We have a Parent Teacher Association known as Whetstone Association for St Peter’s School, WASPS for short, which further develops links with parents and raises money to buy extra special resources that the school could not normally afford.
WASPS are made up of parents and school staff who work behind the scenes to organize events such as quiz nights, bedding plant sales, discos for children, competitions and the important Fun Day in the summer and Christmas Fair. The events raise varying amounts from £200 to £1,000, depending on its type, but it all adds up. The money we have raised has been spent on theatre trips, football strip, waterproof clothing for the Foundation Stage, target walls for the playground and the boat. More recently we have purchased a woodwork bench for EYFS and crèche toys and have paid for the author John Harris to spend a day in school with the children and First Aid training with St. John Ambulance with years 3/4 and 5/6. We meet usually twice a term on a Wednesday evening for approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours, depending what is on the agenda. We would welcome new faces and ideas (no matter how big or small), even if you can only help at the odd event you will be most welcome.
New this year is our Facebook group which any parent is welcome to request to join. It is WASPS - St. Peter's Primary School. Here you will find updates on all our recent events and letters, and will also remind you of any deadlines.
If you cannot commit to the meetings but have some fund raising ideas please feel free to contact us either by dropping into the school office or email us via the school office.
Chair - Michelle Secretary - Cecile Treasurer - Danielle

All parents are automatically members of WASPS. We value the work that WASPS do for our school and would encourage you to join in and support their activities.
